I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery – air, mountains, trees, people. I thought: ‘This is what it is to be happy.’ Sylvia Plath

A Brit chick in Chi-town…

Seeing as my English mother met my Australian father in Greece you could say travel is in my blood. Certainly our family trips to Europe and across the globe sparked a passion to see the world.

As an author and freelance journalist I’ve been lucky enough to mix work with pleasure thanks to some wonderful travel writing commissions. And, writer perks aside, it seems like every spare penny I have finds its way towards flights or plans to visit somewhere new and interesting.

I find it hard to stay in one place for very long so in my spare time I also like to seek out beautiful and unique places to visit on my doorstep – and of course the best places to eat and drink!

In recent years I’ve lived in London, England, and Sydney, Australia, and I now live in Illinois in the Midwest of America.

In 2014 my husband and I moved from St Louis to the Chicago suburbs and began exploring DuPage County.

I write Treks & the City to jot down the happy memories of my wanders and share the constant flow of photos I am addicted to taking. I hope you enjoy reading the blog and thanks for stopping by!
