About Treks & the City

Hi, my name is Charlotte and I am a British mum-of-one and freelance writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area (via Bath, London, Sydney, St Louis & Chicago).

I’m going to let you into a secret… sometimes I get bored at home playing lego bricks. And when I get bored my little person gets bored too and I feel like a bad mother.  It took me a while to realize, but life is more fun when we are out exploring, doing new things and seeing the world. It’s not exactly rocket science, yet actually getting out the door can seem like an epic struggle on the days when I am tired or he is tired or the dog has puked on the carpet (again).

Life feels exciting when we make the effort to go somewhere new, especially as we both get to see the world through a toddler’s eyes.

My earlier TATC posts are from my childfree days when I got to swan around the globe as a travel writer. I still make an effort to go to far-flung places but now I have a small human in tow I am making the most of the cool stuff on my doorstep and traveling – in a more organized, snack and diaper carrying fashion – whenever I can.

These days I try to investigate and write about about the travel tips and gems I’m always scouring Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor for as a mother. I hope you find something useful –  if you do please share the love on your social media.
I’d also love to see your comments on my posts and of course links to your own tips 🙂
